Finding an Attorney

You may need to consult a private attorney to receive legal advice for your specific situation. Word-of-mouth is the easiest way to find a private attorney in most cases; asking your friends, family members, and colleagues that have worked with attorneys in the past can be a good place to start. The Foreclosure Mediation Program cannot provide referrals to private attorneys or law firms for fee-based representation. The resources listed below can help you find a private attorney:

Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA)
The ISBA is a private, nonprofit organization that provides professional services to Illinois-licensed lawyers. The ISBA also educates and serves the public. The ISBA's Illinois Lawyer Finder tool is a free online resource that you can use to find an attorney in your area.

Winnebago County Bar Association
Similar to the ISBA, the Winnebago County Bar Association offers an online Find An Attorney tool that you can use to find an attorney in your area.

Boone County Bar Association
Similar to the ISBA, the Boone County Bar Association offers an online Member Directory that you can use to find an attorney in your area.
